Wintergarden Park and the Black Swamp

Today we explored Wintergarden Park!  What a wonderful time we had!!!!!   This was our first adventure of many!  When considering the people who moved here to the Bowling Green Area, why do you think they moved here?  What would have been the reason for a person to leave all they know to move to a place covered by swamps and infested with mosquitos?

What was the most interesting
thing you saw?  What did you like the least...besides the heat :) ? What would you say to someone about this park and the people who settled Bowling Green?  Post at least one of your own posts in response and then ad to two more posts from other people. What at great day! Even the rain waited for us to return!

Today we went to Wintergarden/ St. John’s Nature Preserve a Bowling Green City Park. First thing we did since we arrived there was going to Nature Center. The center was amazing and every thing was making me feel relax and calm. Even there were a lot of stuffed animals, but the place still great. We met the nature man who told us little more about the history of the area.

The weather was amazing and breathtaking, and the breeze in the air was charming. We saw a lot of planets and trees like Oak savannah, Black berry, Cattails, Cactus, Grape trees, and a lot of beautiful ornamental trees that smile like jasmine. The nature in the place was really beautiful and charming.
While we were walking in the park we saw couple of swampy area that our beautiful teacher started to tell us about the history of the whole area. I was really surprised by the new information and the history of this area. While we were waking we saw some animals like Read binged black bird, mosquito, and a deer. After long walking our teacher showed us the sand soil, and it is really amazing how ages can change places! We walked furthermore and we saw a beautiful pond. I loved how the sunlight reflected on the surface of the pond.

I encourage every one from Bowing Green and the visitors who came to Bowing Green to go to Wintergarden/ St. John’s Nature Preserve a Bowling Green City Park and see the nature and enjoy with their time.

  3. Exploring Northwest Ohio History class had an outside class last Thursday. It was the first time for me to visit Wintergarden Park because it is located relatively far from my house. Actually, Korea has very similar climate and temperature with Ohio. I am used to see the plants and environment of the park.

However, it was so wonderful time for me. Even though the climate is similar, everything in the park was so fresh. I didn't pay attention to the plants so much when I was in South Korea. All of the plants have their own features such as shapes of leaves and scents. Moreover, it was interesting that the soils are different-some are wet and others are dry like a desert-even if these are in the same park.

I already recommended my friends to visit the park, and have a plan to go to the park with my friends again.

  5. On Wednesday we went to wintergarden park. It is an amazing place to visit because it has many magnificent views and I have never in my whole life visited place like this. The climate was perfect. In those moments I wished that time does not pass quickly to enjoy the moments.

During the trip we met the explorer and he talked with us about the black swamp and how it has a bad effect on Bowling Green in the past. None can live in Bowling Green when the black swamp arrived to Bowling Green.

After that we took a tour with teacher Dorinda inside the
park and we saw many wonderful thing over there. We saw Oak trees kind of mushrooms. While we're walking we saw a Deer it was far from where we were stand, so we didn't see it clearly.

I had fun there and i would like to visit it again sometime !!

  6. Last Wednesday the Exploring Northwest Ohio History class went to one of the fantastic places in Bowling Green which is Wintergarden/ St. John’s Nature Preserve a Bowling Green City Park. When I went that place I was surprised and I asked my self is this place really in Bowling Green? I didn’t think for a second that Bowling Green has this great places that had history. We also met the explorer and he talk to us about the history of Northwest Ohio and how this area was swamp and the people make it place to live and that was awesome. We saw a beautiful flowers and plants that was the first time I see them in that park. I'll visit that park more than one when I come back from my country with a lot of friends because it's really nice place but we should take water this time with us ^^.

It has many magnificent views. Also, it is so quiet place. In that day, the weather was amazing. When we arrived to Wintergarden park, we met someone who works there. He told us about many animals and he asked me what are the animals that live in Kuwait. After that, we walked in the Wintergarden park. We saw many kind of Plants. Also, we saw deer far away between many trees. It was so beautiful park. I like this park, and I will visite it again as soon as possible.

  12. Today we went to the mad-house and it was interesting trip in historical place. We saw many beautiful things that they used it in the past for kitchen, bedrooms, restaurant, and dead people. I don't like to read about history but this place had a lot of things that make me change my mind. Especially for places that a lot of people live in and they like one world like the mad-house. I want to take a trip around the world and see more places like this one and learn about the history in it.
